Founded in Richmond Va. In 1996 By Bran Cox and Erik Larson, Alabama Thunderpussy quickly expanded its musical reach through a Road-Dog work ethic across the United States. The band signed to Man's Ruin Records in 1998, releasing their debut for the label with “Rise Again” later that year; to be followed by “River City Revival” in 1999 and 2000's "Constellation". 2001 saw the band sign with Relapse Records and a new era began with the release of "Staring at the Divine" in 2002. Facing line-up shifts and a growing touring schedule, Alabama Thunderpussy returned in 2004 with new frontman Johnny Weils. and new epic album ‘Fulton Hill’. 2006 brought the release of “Open Fire”, Alabama Thunderpussy’s most ferocious Metal-Tinged record to date, which features the vocal prowess of Kyle Thomas (Floodgate/Exhorder/Trouble). The band toured Europe consistently in the early 2000’s alongside the likes of High On Fire and Firebird and performing at major festivals all across Europe.
After a 15-year hiatus the band reformed in 2022, performing a hugely successful show in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia and are now ready to return to Europe where they haven’t performed since 2007.
